PROS & CONS

PROS

The backlit LCD Display allows you to monitor the frequency, channel and signal strength.

The Integral Meter will allow you to monitor the RF Output, Signal Strength, SWR or Modulation - depending on which display setting you select.

The channels are arranged in banks of 50 (ie 0.5MHz), and you can change from one bank to another with the press of the "BAND" button.

Your tuning can be done by 3 different methods,

#1 ~ By using the VFO / Rotary Channel Selector.
#2 ~ By using the Channel Slector Up/Down button's on the radio.
#3 ~ By using the Channel Up / Down buttons on the microphone.

The tuning step's can be selected from 10KHz, 1KHz or 0.1KHz.

One of the advantages this radio has over it's competitors is that it has true continuous tuning rather than just tuning between "channels" - if you wish you can tune the entire band in any of the step (as low as 0.1KHz).

In contrast the other radios only allow 1KHz tuning "between" channels (ie if you tune up from XX.9 the next step is XX.0).

The Output Power on AM, FM and CW is continuously variable, however the power on SSB is fixed and can only by altered by varying the microphone audio level.

CONS

I would like to see the 9 Pin Accessory Plug replaced with standard mini plug jacks ie: External Speaker Jack, CW/Morse Key Jack, PA jack.

I would also like to see a Variable SSB Power Control added.

Get rid of the Roger Beep and maybe use that Button for a High and Low Power for SSB Use.

REVIEW and COMMENTS

The President Lincoln radio is probably one of the most popular 10 Meter Radios that has ever been produced.

It first came on the scene in the Mid 80's for the radio enthusiast and is still one of the most popular 10 Meter radio's there is.

The simplicity / ease of use of this radio has made it very popular over the years for the first time user as well as for the more experienced users.

Over the years there have been several minor improvements / modification's that have been made over the year's to make this radio even better for the user.

The Biggest improvement in my personal opinion that has been made to this radio over the years is the changing / replacement of the Original MRF477 Output Transistor and replacing it with the Higher Rated MRF455 Output Transistor.

While the President Lincoln Radio does not have all of the bells and whistles of some of the newer radios on the market today, it is still one of the most popular and easiest to use and best sounding radio's there is.

Over the years the President Lincoln has developed a World Wide Reputation for Quality and Performance and is one of the most popular 10 Meter radio's ever made.

It is hard to find a more Reliable / Dependable time proven radio than the President Lincoln Radio.

I would Highly recommend this radio for any first time user just entering into the hobby as well as for the more experienced users who are looking for a GOOD RELIABLE / DEPENDABLE 10 Meter Radio.
