Scrapiron Good report. I would like to make a couple of corrections though. 1- A 6 to 4 pin adapter WILL work as long as you have one for the RF Limited radios. They are made. The center pin is the one that has the 13 volts put to it. So, when wiring a different mic to the radio, pin number 6 will NOT be used. 2- The 50 watts that your meter showed is really pretty high. 35-40 watts maximum is more realistic. I just love these second generation CCC/RF Limited radios. I can't say enough good things about them. They have features that no other company offers. RF Limited KNOWS what the CBer wants in a radio. Lol. Who else but RFL will give the CBer a factory installed NPC modification? And who else is willing to sell these high-tech radios cheaper than Copper? Good report Scrapiron. 73s for now. Thanks Jeff, I knew what I wanted to say, but didn't know if others could decipher my rambling or not. lol. Yeah I knew my wattage check might be a little strong, that Dosy testcenter in my shop I used has had quite a bit of power ran thur it in the last several years, might be a little loose on the swing. The book for the Omegaforce gives 40 watts for SSB and FM. I've got the radio in the house here now, and on a PDC 700 it shows even more, ha, you know those old 700's are swingers. When I saw the mike wiring, knew the RCI adapters wouldn't work, I need to make a jumper for it, although this is one radio that doesn't need a power mike, but a Silver Eagle would look good setting by it. It does have some nice features, I'm not a big echo or talkback fan, but a lot of people are, and this radio is by far the best i've heard out of the box. The clarifier is like one should be, moves Tx and Rx. The modulator is super nice for AM, you don't have to worry about mods to get the swing you want. The memory channels that program mode and freq is a feature you only find in a Kenwood or some other HF rig. Something else thats nice, and unlike the RCI's, you can go to the VFO/channel selector off of a memory channel. That's really handy if you use 2,3,4 or more bands. You can program a memory channel in each band, then when you go to that memory channel, the channel selector is live, you can move to other channels, or frequencies with the step feature. Not a biggie, but its nice. Well, I'm rambling again, guess you can tell by now I like the Omegaforce. lol scrapiron |

One of the problems to this new radio is the "stock" clarifier only slides about 2 kc either side, needs to slide at least 5 either side,I think that would be better. There are some clarifier mods being worked out right now for that. |

Czar The 2kc slide is perfect. This radio has what they call a step button. This will move the operating frequency 1kc at a time. So, this step botton will easily take you to the 5kc's (zero frequency) that you are looking for and the clarifier will still give you a 1kc up or down slide on eithe side of that frequency. Bottom frequency on this radio is 25.160. Actually, it's 25.159 if you slide down 1kc with the clarifier. Top frequency is 29.699. And again, 29.700 when you slide up 1kc with the clarifier. Or put another way, there is a frequency coverage of 25.159 through 29.700 without as much as 1hz missing between these frequencies. Any radio with a feature such as this does not need a wide clarifier. And another plus to this narrow clarifier is the easiness of clarifying a SSB signal while you're driving. Power and feature wise, the RF Limited Omega is the 10 cylinder Viper of ALL dual final 10 Meter radios built to date. What's surprising is the fact that they are less expensive than some bare-bone well known radios. Clear Channel Corporation (aka) RF Limited, is the originator of the 10 Meter mobile radio. All others are knock-offs. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

I think the slider moves enough, like he said since you can also move 1 kc at the time with the step feature. It tunes easy because it doesn't move fast, it has a full turn for just 2 kcs. This is really helpful for people that's not use to a slider, if you've used the old 10 or 20 kc sliders before, then you can appreciate this one. I wouldn't mind if it moved 5 each way, but doubt if I would change it. Those that like talkback will love this radio, the mike gain doesn't effect it, all the way up or down makes no difference, you just set it with the talkback control. I rewired one of the 6 to 4 pin connectors to work on the Omegaforce so I could try a Silver Eagle D-104, the talk back works fine with it, and you can turn it up plenty loud before it starts squalling. |

Jon666, here's how I changed the adaptor to fit the omegaforce. This will work if your silver eagle is wired for 4 pin cobra/galaxy. Original wiring: 1. shield 2. White 3. Red 4. Black 5. N/C 6. N/C Omegaforce wiring 1. White 2. Black 3. Red 4. N/C 5. shield 6. N/C |

Topten If memory serves me correctly, high power is varible 118. DO NOT set the high power varible higher that 10 watts maximum. Do this adjustment into a dummyload. This radio needs room to "swing". So make sure you don't set the high pwr deadkey more than 10 watts. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

Jeff, Thanks, the low power adjustment is what i need, right now it will go to zero watts with the rf pwr knob, i would like to put the minimum to 1 watt. Do you know where the echo volume adjustment is? Mine is hardly audible, and i do have a 100 watt dummy load plus a fairly good dosy test center with a head phone jack. Geez, i hate to send it away for something so simple. 73's & Happy Holidays... |

I knew they were different colors, couldn't remember them, so I just used those colors for reference. Match the pin numbers from the orginial wiring to that for the omegaforce, ie, Number one, which is shield will go on number 5. Number 2, whatever color it is, will go on number 1 for the omegaforce. Number 3, whatever color it is will stay the same. Number 4, whatever color it is, will go on number 2 for the omegaforce. No connections for number 4 and number 6 for the omegaforce. Original wiring: 1. shield- ground 2. White - audio 3. Red - transmit 4. Black - receive 5. N/C 6. N/C Omegaforce wiring 1. White - audio 2. Black - receive 3. Red - transmit 4. N/C 5. shield - ground 6. N/C |

Incredible radio. It is loud and clean. It has top notched ears too. You really don't need a pre-amp. It includes the skip frequencies (missing channels) between channels. For example you will see 7, 7A, 11, 11A. This is a great feature and think it is on most Magnums. It has front adustable echoe that can make all sorts of sounds if you play it by ear. I run mine as a base station so I can play with the echoe without running off the road! Mikefromms |
