Thanks, Lon 808 and 808 xyl. for this great Review on the KLV 1000 amp. The more that I read on the care and use of the EL-519 Tubes The better that I feel. I remember the old days gone by, the D&A and Palomar Amps talks good until you flatten the tubes. My father had a Palomar 300-A Skipper. It talked very well until his son got very windy and flattend his tubs. All that I known back then was it was fun to talk on. And I was a child that loved to to talk. Lon,what is the difference between the El-519 Russian tube compared to the old 6lq6,6lf6,6QE6 Tubes? |

Thank you two for posting your review. I have a couple questions. 1. Does the amp have an external keying jack? 2. What does the "drive" knob do? 3. How often does it need the tuning touched up? 4. Have you tried it on SSB? 5. What would you estimate the best amount of drive for a KLV-1000P? (The 4 tube version) Znut |

Znut, #1 ~ NO #2 ~ You Adjust the Load, Plate and the Drive Knobs to obtain the Maximim Power on the Watt meter. #3 ~ If you Change Channels it is Recommended to Re-adjust for Maximum Performance. #4 ~ Yes it was tested both on AM and SSB. #5 ~ Maybe someone out there who has one can help you on this question. Sorry, but I have never owned or tested one. Lon Tech808 |

When I tune my 1000P for the max power on the watt meter, I get a back swing. I have to tune way down on the watt meter to get a forward swing. I drive it with my Galaxy 2517 & my KLV 400. Any ideas? |

You're absolutely right Bc,but this guy don't exist anymore,I don't think, post is over a year old, hehe, but he can dump the 400 and just use the 2517 for about 300 watts on am and 800 on ssb,but what I want is a rack-mount heatsink for 20 pass transistors and then a REALLY BIG SOLID STATE AMP,my 20 pound transformer aint workin hard enow.Bigbob |
