Not easily. You need to add a super diode to the Varactor. Try a NTE 612 maybe |

Yes, I have 5KHz. down on my Uniden Grant XL, it was done before I owned the radio, so I don't know the mod., Where the wires are hooked up for it, looks like componates where removed but not added. |

5 KHz. IE: 27.110.00 MHz. half way between channels 12 and 13, also have the 10 KHz. up and down mod., Although with an open or exspanded clarifier, most of the sideband radios will do 5 & 10 KHz. on the clarifier, but with the mods. the clarifier can remain stock if one wishes. |

Yankee, your grant is a totally different radio than the 959. No where even close to the same board. The Grant will slide 20Kc if you want it to. Its tough to get the EPT069610Z board to do it. |

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was thinking that the 959 was much the same radio as the Grant XL-LTs. |

Sounds like you need a Magnum 257. That would do it, the slide I mean. |

I HAVE a 959 abd there is nothing about either AM or SSB that comes close to competing with a Magnum 257. Not in audio quality, tone, stability, or anything to do with the sound coming out of the speaker. |
