Hey all, Well It's a old 148gtl, not the new one's......The serial no. tag on back of chassis is gone so I can't give you the year, but I know it's a old one.....Maybe this will help. the orange wire is soldered to board right next to R44, the blue wire, wich is soldered to middle of pot, is soldered to board, right next to VR3,
and the white wire is soldered to board, right next to R173... I clipped R44 and D52, then bridged R174, I just need to know wich wire from pot goes to 8v power soarce to Pin 3 on IC4 and wich wire from pot goes to ground..........I've done this mod on my Cobra 2000 a long time ago, and can't quite remember how.......LOL........Just don't want to Frank any components....Just want to slide at least 5kc's or so down on freq.....Thanks guys.....

I have the same radio under the name of Uniden Grant XL and the clarifier mod you speak of does a full 20 KCs, It was done before I owned the radio, but I also have a switch wired into the circuit board that drops the frequency a full 5 KCs without the use of the clarifier, possible someone has that 5 KCs mod.

Wow 20kc's that might be a little rough tuning people in on my bouncy 4 wheeler. Hopefully, 808 or someone could help me out with wiring up the right wires from pot, I'd like to slap this rig in my truck this weekend. Thanks Yankee for the info.......73's

Snapperhead, that's 2 full channels on the clarifier. Right now I'm running the Grant mobile and tuning sideband is not all that touchy. Once you set it, it's quite stable.

I see you have it correct now, some times you get a little more clarifier spread, guess it depends on the radio as no 2 radios come out the same on the clarifier mod, About 2 years ago I had a Cobra 148F-GTL that tuned on the low end from 26. 815.0 all the way to 26.785.0 on the clarifier, but it is rare that you'll get one to track that far and still be stable.
