Can anyone tell me how to install the swing diode in either of these radios. I know its being done cause I have seen it work. The tech is installing them and there working just like the low key kit you would install with the cap and resistor. I did know which resistor to pull and add the diode, but forgot...any help would be great. |

just tune it how u want high or low dead key. Then open your modulation limiter up all the way. Copper has a list of modifications for both those radios. |

Never trust a watt meter! Look at the modulation waveform on an O'scope with a "swing diode" installed. You will be dissapointed. bigbilly ke5bbc |

These radios are different than the Galaxys, therefor a diode or NPC mod will not work. The best thing for these radios, is to replace the stock final with a 2sc1969 transistor and then add a variable output mod using a TIP120 darlington-transistor. You can then set the deadkey wherever you want and swing full power. |
