I'm getting my 696f-ssb base modified this week and i need to just what i can do to it.I'm going to have it peaked and tuned get the modulation up to 100% get extra channels added and the guy who is doing the job is going to try and add a knob for variable wattage and add fm if it's possible.so if theres anything else i can do that i don't know about let me know. |

go to lou franklin/cbc intl for fm possibility. for variable, you need a resistor to limit high dead key on an external pot replacing the VR for output on the board. you can either drill a hole & add a new pot on top or side of cover, or just use an infrequently used control such as the squelch. |

You can FM almost any radio by applying audio to a VARICAP diode at a mixer point. this still leaves you with a AM receiver but you can slope detect. Would i do this? NO but it can be done NOT EASY. Now if you REALY want good FM the best FM radio ive ever seen is a alinco DR-M03 but finding one is a problem..... they will go from 27-29.99 with a minor mod.
