Hello everybody. I'm trying to research this radio and it's potential mods and channel conversion but seem to run into alot of dead ends. Unless I'm absolutely blind, anything is possible. If anyone can point me in the right direction to any links pertaining to channel conversion, variable power, modulation & tuning help I would be most greatful. Oh and any likes or dislikes? |

For the 4800DXL, use the channel mod listed for the Galaxy DX2517. To the left here, you can find it under "Tools", "Modification List". It's listed as the 4800 (no DXL, but same mod). What's the number on the board for that radio (i.e. "EPT6900-10Z")? |

If you use the mod for the 2517, the new 4800 will not go below 26.965. If you move both jumpers as you would in the old 4800, the freq. counter goes crazy. There must be more to the modification for the new connex 4800 w/echo.The new 4800 uses a different board than the old one. I cant remember the number, but I know it started with an M. |

do you get nothing on the 1st couple bands, or do you get multiple bands of ch1-40? 2 jumpers need to be moved & some have another connector just hanging out off the hi/lo switch that needs to be attached to a socket on the board. did you move the correct jumpers, & to the correct locations? viking is correct, but so are you, 'raker. the board is actually labeled 'MEPT6900-10Z' |

the new 4800 does not have the hi/lo band switch. it has a 12 position band selector. when you move both jumpers as you would with the old 4800 the freq. counter goes crazy. with the jumper under the freq. counter module moved I can only go from 26.965-29.9??. the radio works fine, but I have no lower channels bands A-F are repeats of G-L. Do you have any ideas? |

can't help you any more then that moonraker. the last 1 i modded was a dxl w/echo that had a 6 band switch & hi/lo switch & that mod worked fine. this may be the same as you're trying, but-'move j275 to pins 2 & 3. unplug jumper at j4 & move it to j2.' OR-'move j2 over. move j29 diagonally across from where it is now.' & the old 1 had to have a jumper from the hi/lo switch connected. if that don't work, ??? |
