Buck, I found 2 different conversions..... Frequency conversion by reprogramming the PLL pins ------------------------------------------- Pull pin 10 of the PLL low to go up 64 channels and start another band. All you have to do is use one of the switches (the tone switch is best) and re-wire it so that it controls pin 10 of the PLL, one side of the tone switch currently goes to earth (should be the common pin), the other side goes to C77 which is shunted across the audio path to cut off the high frequencies to reduce the tone, all you need to do is cut the wire that goes to C77 and run from the switch to pin 10 instead, when the switch is in the low tone position it will connect pin 10 with earth, which will make the radio go up be 640kHz (64 channels). Re tune if needed Frequency conversions by crystal changes ----------------------------------------- (You need to change the crystal at location X3) Quote " 11.6908MHz gives 28.060MHz to 28.500Mhz (Ham 10 Meter) operation in Cobra/Uniden CB's that originally had 11.3258MHz in them " You really just need 28.300 to 28.500 for voice, the lower part of the band is CW. You can use a 11.4758MHz to get the high band, or a 11.1758MHz to get the low band instead if that is what you need. ------------------------------------------- Hope this helps.. 431 |

The way I do mine they start at 27.455 and end at 28.045 for the uppers, lowers go down to 26.815 . Off the PLL only mb8719. |

Ok I think I got it figured out. I am going to connect the high/low switch to pin 10 and I would like to connect the brt/dim switch to pins 11 and 12. Now can some one tell me how to remove the existing wires on the brt/dim switch so that I have the dim setting all the time. Also I would like to know which pins on the brt/dim switch to use???? there are six pins and I only 2.. Any one have any idea what im after or do I have everyone confused like me????? Thanks Buck |

Don't hack the radio. Just add 2 SPST switches on the rear of the radio. I hate hacking up a radio. 307 |

Thanks for the advise 307...I will do that. I might just get a short piece of thin angle iron and mount it to my desk. I could mount the switches to that instead of the 148....That way I wont have any holes in it either. I plan on using it only as a base. Thanks again for the suggestion 307 Buck |

How about a clarifier mod that will give me about 6Kc down???? I have seen mods that give up to 14Kc of slide but that is way too much for me... Id like to just be able to slide down between channels with a little extra to spare. I did the channel mod and it works great!!!! I ran the wires through a small hole in the back of the radio and mounted the switches to a piece of aluminum angle which I mounted to my desk...No extra holes in the radio and its not all hacked up. Thanks for everyones help on this project Buck |

Buck, this is what I found....... 1 Cut R44 2 Cut D52 3 Solder a jumper wire across R 174 (or remove it and put a jumper in its place) 4 Remove red wire that comes from the Fine tune pot from the board and hook it to the + side of C84 5 Change R175 to a 1KOhm This should give you the slide that you want. Hope this helps..... 431 |

Thanks Jason for your help....I found one that gives me about 6Kc of slide each way. The first 3 steps are the same that you posted. #4. follow the orange wire from the clarifier to the board and de-solder from board and solder to pin 3 of the MB3756 IC(IC4). #5. Center the clarifier and adjust L22(lsb), L59(usb), and L23(am) for normal operation. I dont have a freq counter so I just used my Titan as a listining guide and adjusted untill I sounded normal. I know its probably not the recommended way but it worked fine for a dirt poor farm boy. Now on to another project...I seemed to have developed a cold solder joint in my titan so I will try to track that down today. Thanks again Buck |
