Without over-dissipating the plate, you can get 1000 watts carrier and 2000 watts peak envelope power from a 4-1000 at the design frequency of 1.0 MHz. At 28 MHz., the 4-1000 is good for approximately 750 watts carrier and 1500 watts peak envelope power. Of course you can get more power out of a properly driven 4-1000 at the expense of drastically reduced lifespan. |

I've seen 4-1000 tubed crab boxes do 4 times what a 3-500Z does on a bird 43. Althought the tech above is correct with to much drive and or to much filament volts will reduce life span. |

Is there a way to test a 4-1000 out of circuit, aside it's filament? |

Yes with a tube tester ..... Finding the tester would be the problem On 6 since 66
