Hi All,
Just curious if anyone could give me some info on Mods for a couple of radios I have..
First, I have Cobra 25 Ltd Classic, 25 Ltd-ST, and a 25 Nw-St.
Would the mods be the same for all 3??
I just got the 25 Nw-St working and I just want to get all the power and modulation I can out of these radios. Thanks for any input.....

Happy Holidays

Hi Chris,
I tried this mod on my pc68xl and it works great!! Keys 1 watt - swings 15. Copied this from a post by Barracuda.

If you look where L10 is in the picture, to the rear is the final transistor. By the left sink wall you will see a wire jumper that runs front to back. Desolder and remove that wire. In it's place install a 470uf 25v capacitor with the negative side towards the final.
On the solder side install a 1/2w 100ohm resistor on the two points of the installed cap.
Hook up and adjust vr 5 for max modulation. Adjust L13, 10, 9, and 8 for maximum carrier, do so gently and slowly. Go back to each of the L's and tune them for maximum audio. Each should only have to ba adjusted very little. You may have to do this up to 3 times to get proper audio peak. Do so with "auuuu" not a whistle.
When this is done go back and check what your carrier is. It should be between 1w and 1.75. If it is higher, lessen the 100ohm resistor to around 75, if it is below a watt, raise the resistor to about 125. If you have to change the resistor you will have to repeat the tuning process entirely.
I have done this with success in many 29/25/66/76/68/78 radios leaving the limiter intact. You get around 1.5w carrier and about 16-20w peak with clean loud audio. This should help, I performed this mod and it worked absolutely great a smokin little 68xl gotta love uniden! email me for the picture diagram makes it much easier. hope this helps

This isn't the american 25ltd classic... this probaly won't work for you.... but it is interesting... http://www.radiomods.co.nz/cobrauk25ltdstmod.ipg you also could go to http://www.radiomods.co.nz look around and find tune-up specs for your radio...
