Describe your problem a little more. Does your swr go down when you stop talking? WILDRAT Mark 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

Nobody is going to answer this with any real confidence without some real details. Don't be afraid to ask a real question. |

Grumpy, Reading your thread title... When checking your antennas SWR, dead key only. When you talk that uncalibrates the meter because your output wattage is changing. Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana

grumpy, your SWR meter is not calibrated for when you are speaking, like hotwire said. therefore, you cannot trust what the meter says when talking. you do not need the MFJ ground. sounds to me like that antenna is working just fine. matt anyone wanting a "clean signal", just look to the left and build one of these!!!

I wish people would stop worrying about an swr that is 1.8:1 or less - the amount of loss os negligable. The reason your swr appears to change is exactly as Hotwire and Kid have indicated, your meter was calibrated for the power out with no modulation and is slightly off calibration when you speak into teh transmitting radio. Personally I'd be more concerned if it did not change. Simon Tech237 KD7IEB
