The guy I bought my radio from said if I have him install the speech processor (compressor) it will make the radio sound much better. I'm not sure how much better it can sound. I have already had the radio peaked and tuned. Does anybody know how much better this will make this specific radio sound? Should I just start with a power mike, I am currently using the stock mike, or will it not make much of a difference. Don't get me wrong, nobody has told me that the radio sounds bad, I was just wondering how much of a change to expect. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

I use a DM-452 echo mic on my 2970(same exact radio as a 2995)...really woke that radio up...I've also heard many great things about the JCD-201 desk mic that copper has, it uses very advanced speech compression and is infinately adjustable to you and the radio...I honestly would avoid any and all Internal mods to that series of radios(2950/2970/2995)...they are truly excellent radios and shouldn't be hacked up...there aren't many mods other than channel conversion that can't be done with a microphone or an amp Sean CEF867 CVC81 "Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to!!"

the value of a properly operating speech processor or compressor exceeds that of a standard power mic. properly installing & setting one is neccessary, & not always easy. |
