I am loking to get a base amp that will work safely with my Ranger RCI 2995DX. My current settings are dead key between 10-50 watts and swings to about 260. I do not want to harm my radio or the amp with these current settings. I am looking to get around 1000 or so watts out. I would also like one that works well on SSB also and has a preamp for better receiving. I was told it would not easy to find a suitable amp because my radio already has a built in driver of 2 2290's. I am also running rg 8X mini coax to an IMAX 200 antenna, is this cable ok?. Could someone please make a recomendation of an amp (make and model) that would suit my needs, if there is one available and give me specifications on how to safely opeate this? thank you for any advice |

if it were me id get the klv100p model im not sure without looking but ya may need turn down your low power adjustment...not sure though.just follow directions and load amp up with exactly what they say and should be fine your tradio is the audio limiter removed/disabled cause 260 swings is questionable 150-200 sounds closer to what ya should be seeing.as for coax how long is your run of coax longer it is the more loss youll have.its ok coax but id recommend getting rg-213 or ca400 dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

792, im running a 2995dx radio into the 4 tube klv. im dking about 10 to 15 watss and swing is limited to 150!! also using 213 coax!! now on high, the amp dks about 350 to 400 and swings to about 1400 on a loud audio, however, talking normal it goes to about 1000 to 1200 on the high sounds!? now, ive taken my klv and put the russian selvita tubes in it, now the dk is 400 and swings to 1400 on a normal voice.. i believe the heavier russian tubes except more drive witout hurting them, and this has been doing this for about 4 years?? i dont no if youll get the same wattage, but im just an example of whats possible!! this was into a jogunn 6 star beam, with a bird 43p meter reading the results!! i do have a deadacated 120 line coming to my shack thats fused at 50 amps, its 6 gage wire from a tap off of the main inlet of the electrical input to the house!! and runs into its own distrubution box!! hope this mite show what one person has done with said equipment?? also shows about the same going into my 5000v maco!! any questions about my set up ill try to explain.. thehobo 269150 am monitor ch |

dale, as stated above, its the 4 tube klv high drive, also it will take swing more then most think!! as i said, with the selvita tubes from russia it will handle alittle more!! i believe it states on the docs for the 4 tube klv that it will take 120 swing on ssb?? it will handle that on am also!! that was what my instructions stated 4 years ago when i bought the amp!! ive found that in using most meters that they tend to be alittle generous on swing, thats why i stated ive seen and used the above wattage while using a bird 43p meter!! hope this helps?? thehobo 269150 am monitor ch |
