i am debating what to use, i have general lee. i want more power out so i was thinking of either replacing the 2- 1969's and the 2166 with 3 2030 and comp. parts. but then i was thinking to go with the stinger boards or do both? any idea which is better? also is it possible to do both? i have my dk at 3 on low power,dk 10 on hi swing set at 28.what should it be if i do the conversion? thanks in adv. |

having done early stinger board mods & other transistor swaps, i'd say your best bet is to add an external amp. getting near 30 watts PEP from the radio, you need about 120 PEP to see a noticeable increase. the 2030 mod will get you 50-60 watts PEP, maybe. the stinger-probably the same ballpark. MAYBE a bit more. hardly noticeable. people will possibly think you added a power mic-maybe. a nice 2 x 2290-type amp at around 150 watts would be an excellent choice. |

i suggested to owner of radio bout using amp but he doesnt want to. he either wants the 2030's or stinger board. me personally not sure of which is the best way to go. is there such a thing as using the 2030's and a stinger? |

hmmmm, first post it appeared you were the owner....anyway, sure, why not? you will need to back the output DOWN even more watts-wise with the 2030's because the stinger requires the same drive, regardless of the transistors. so why bother with the 2030's if you're gonna do the stinger. in the same token, why bother with the stinger mod if you put in a pair of 2030's? both mods are like buying a 150 watt radio to drive a 2 transistor amp. neither mod will get you near enough the 120 watt PEP mark for ANYBODY to tell the difference, so why bother? |

Nothing you can do to your General Lee internally to make it noticeably more powerful. Just make sure it is tuned right by a good tech and get the best antenna you can afford. Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana
