Here is a question for one of the tech's on the forum. I have my ol faithfull vr9000 I got from coppers oh id say 3 yrs or so ago. What I want to do is install me a variable rf gain in to it. As anyone knows of this radio, it is similiar to the galazy 88 as a mater of fact, it has the same main board. Also to whom who knows it, it has no rf or mic gain cotrols. Well the mic gain is an easy fix. My good ol cobra dynamic CA-61 desk mic. It has mic gain cotrol on it as a slider. Id think id need to find the circuit that has been ard wired for the rf gain control and cut it and ad an old cobra or any gain control variable in line thus completing the circuit with a varible. As for this radio, IT IS THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK!!! Very easy to convert and man, 1 watt to 9 watt dead key and 35 watts of very clean clear audio modulation!!!. If my ol faithfull ever goes down, I will replace it with another. Id love to have one of these in a base type setup with the build in powersupply. It'd be the bomb!!. Anyway, any info on this mod to get me a variable rf gain control would be very appreiciated!!! Thanks for any info.
