I remember being told I could use a cap for my gamma match.
Could I use a Air Variable Capacitor if it were in a Water Proof enclosure? I am looking at one 10-300 pf 3KV.

So anyway, while I'm waiting patiently for the antenna pros to log on to the forum I figured I'd put a little more information here.
What I have is that Maco 4 element beam someone gave me and yes I'm still working/playing with it. I am thinking of getting a 10-150pf air variable cap 3-5kvwv.
I am just need to know if there might be arcing between the plates and/or anything else I may need to know if I do this.

Yes, you can use an air variable! I use them when prototyping. They work fine, but are slightly prone to drift with temp changes and humidity.

Would one of the variables in a vacuum be better?
