I use a 9 volt battery with a 1K resistor in series with the Positive side and a 9 volt snap on connector , works like a champ..

I have one of the Ranger 3300's, I've kept it over the years, while lots of others have come and gone. I think its the best mobile radio I have owned. I have a set of instructions, and with a series of different 'punching' of buttons, it will over-ride the processor, you can start scanning at 26.000 down frequency thur the 12 meter band, and futher I suppose. I have listened down there, don't know if it will TX or not. I haven't done it in a while, as I run it mobile now, but on a base antenna, it worked good for me.
Have you tried that, or know about it. Scrapiron

Wow. January? I came in since then and missed this one. Somewhere I have the instructions that Clear Channel Comm. printed for this. I haven't done one in 8 or 10 years. I'll see if it can be located over the weekend. It was pretty elaborate, but worked.

Hi Rightwing,

I looked at the link that Richard posted above
http://www.qsl.net/w8cwe/ar3500bt.html

It looks a lot like what I remember from our copy. The library here got 'way out of hand, and lots of stuff is buried. It's supposed to be getting sorted, to remove the 1985 computer service manuals, stereo manuals and other stuff we may never service ever again. I think the AR3300/3500 is buried in the wrong stack right now.

(short pause)

I went back and looked at the page on qsl.net and this one looks simpler than the one the factory described. That one involved a 5volt regulator chip, and some other stuff. This way looks easier to me.
