Anyone ever home brew a thrust bearing? I know, your asking yourself why don't I buy one? Well, basically if I can do something for myself that's inexpensive then that's money in the pocket. I'd like to have the becks to get one, it would be a lot easier. WILDRAT MARK 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

Wildrat....I have been looking at some bearings that are made for poor rich farmers combine, tractors, etc and I think that they will work..they come in all sizes and shapes..and ways to mount cost from 5.00 to 20.00 depending on the size you want..Here on the east coast the store name is Tractor Supply..or you might try any REAL old hardware store..or Southern States. Good Luck Steuart 73 CEF341 Ham#43 KB3JRE

Wildrat Yes to your question. I have 1 1/4 " Inch , Mast pipe ( not thin wall tube)sch 40 pipe. Its OD dia. is 1.250 outside dia. Simple , Big washer on top of tower mast, Find the correct Bearing that slips over your mast pipe . Get a bearing that has a locking coller. Lift the mast pipe up and lock the bearing,( Put the locking coller up to the sky) The bearing will ride on the washer. Then the load is off the rotor! NOTE Make shur it a sealed bearing. Total cost for bearing and washer under $20.00 bucks, now thats saves a bunch of money! Note you can find metric bearings to fit over thin wall tubeing also! Wildrat have fun with your project and i hope my information helped. 73 Hal Moderator136 KCØSVC CEF#136/HAM#23 CVC#004#
