Need to know where the control is at that sets the AM dead key on the Texas Ranger TR-696FD1 (Freedom One), This is the sideband mobile that has the American flag and 6 digit frequency counter. Thanks in advance for any help offered. Carl CEF-357 CVC-9 HAM-28 Flatlands of Oklahoma

I think it should be the same as the Galaxy DX-949/959 radios, VR 14 sets AM high TX limit, VR 18 sets AM low TX limit Paul 2IR473 CEF-218 CDX8412

Thanks for the info guys, I now own the radio and it was peaked and tuned at a truck stop shop and the AM dead key was way to high. Radio works great now. Carl CEF-357 CVC-9 HAM-28 Flatlands of Oklahoma

The Ranger Freedom One has only one pot for AM RF output power adjust. There is just a carbon resistor across two points where the other AM VR pot should be on the board. Although the board is labeled for a VR pot at that location on the board. Carl CEF-357 CVC-9 HAM-28 Flatlands of Oklahoma
