I would like to know if the htx10 possibly has a hidden menu in it or what procedure needs to be done in order to change the tones in order to operate the different 10 meter fm repeaters. The radio is set with the 88.5 I think it is, but do not know how to change the tones. I was told that it can't be changed, but that would be stupid to design a radio of that nature and can't change the tones to access the different repeaters with. Any info would be appreciated.. Thanks |

Why would any one need a htx - 10 when COPPER sells a Magnum 257 that looks just like the htx-10, and IS modifiable for CB usage....and at a reasonable price. |

Ai4ep, maybe modding to CB is not what the other guy is interested in. The original post was regarding CTCSS tones for 10m FM repeaters using an HTX-10. Not everyone cares to have one radio for both 10 and 11m services. Nice thing is, you get to choose which radio you want for what you do. |

The Communications Specialists TE-32 Multi-tone CTCSS Encoder board will give you any tone you need. This thing has been made for at least 30 years On 6 since 66

And we know the Magnum 257 has the same unchangable 88.5 tone as the HTX-10, as Sam Lewis confirmed, when Lon asked him about it. The ComSpec tone boards aren't hard to wire up, and the Magnum 257 is my favorite 10m mobile radio...small, good audio, memory channels, repeater split...Hmmm, I might have to order another one.
