Chanalthrasher, Depends on what kind of building you are in.

Personnel experience: I was in El Paso, Tx. Stationed at Ft. Bliss. I lived on the second floor of a 3 story building. I had a mirror mount clamped to the heating system on the roof. SWR barley moved the needle on all channels. I was heard even Over the Mountain.

In short, ground it good and a 102" will work

Chanalthrasher,

If you are gonna use a pole spend $37.50 and get a SOLARCON A99. Otherwise I'm afraid you won't have enough ground for the 102". A 102" has to have a good ground plane to work.

SOLARCON A99 18'OMNI DIR.BASE $37.50

Chanalthrasher,

Is there a tree you could hide the antenna in?

Chanalthrasher,

Sorry, I didn't know you were trying to hide it. I feel your pain about no antenna.

I see where Tech181 is headed with the Tree Question. Coax Cable Vertical dipole (1/2)wave, easy to hide.

How about some more information??
Do you have a roof? Do you have access to it? Do you have any tree's close? What floor do you live on? Does anyone live on top of you? Do you have a balcony?

Check out this site. http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/24-18/FM24-_4.htm
Alot of data about different antenna types. Nice info considering it comes from the Army.
