Have a Midland 1001z with a KL300p. Want to upgrade to a better radio that also has a pa feature. Needs to be compact and would be great if it had SSB. Would also like to be able to tune it for a little more swing than the current radio. I have the KL so it dont need to be a powerhouse. Dont want to spend to much as this is in a jeep and may get removed by someone else down the road. Also dont mind a used or reconditioned unit. |

Sounds like you need a small export or a galaxy 959 ... with that amp you will do just fine .... PA in some states is a no-no so check before you install one. |

I don't have a real compact radio (all my radios are mobile radios however). 2 of my CB buddies do have Phillipean made Uniden Pro 510's in their pickup trucks, and these little babies scream. Like all Phillipean radios it can be made to do just about everything. It is NOT a sideband radio, but can be peaked and tuned for an amp, or made to scream without an amp. I like more of a full feature radio like Bruce recommended or my RCI 2950's, but being a prior Jeep owner, I understand property "walking away". Good luck, Rob CEF# 830 Portland, TN

Hows the Galaxy radios? Does Cooper have a used or returned section or should I stay clear of that and just buy new? |
