i have a wilson 500 mag mt antenna and went to lift it off my truck today and the round magnet itself broke free from the rest of the antenna base...and there is all kinds of rust and junk inside there that i dont think i would be able to clean it out enough and im not sure how to get it back inplace and holding .....i was looking into a valor mm-3401 triple mag mt like my friend has but i would like to be able to thread my wilson antenna coil right onto the mm-3401 but i am unsure whether i can do this or not or if i need adaptors or something ....also if i can do this i wanted to see if it would be possible use one of the valor trs 100 mobile antenna radial and possible some kind of a quick disconnect all on this thing

once again just wishful thinking ....but it would be nice if i could build this and use the remaining wilson whip and coil

Hello Pancake, I believe the Valor MM 3401 is a heavy duty triple magnet mount base. You can attach an antenna to it with the 3/8 threaded stud to it. Now I have never owned a Wilson 5000. If the Wilson 5000 will unscrew from its magnet base it should be able to fit the Valor mount directly as NMO or with the 3/8 24 thread adaptor. It should work but to be sure always check for an acceptable SWR.
Just thinking....that Valor mount is a little exspensive. May be able to go another route for less money, but then again if you have your heart set on restoring your beloved Wilson 5000 I can understand.
All I can say about the Valor trs 100 or any other brand of mobile ground plane radials is save your money. Groundplane radials are great for base antennas but silly on mobile antennas. They just don't work and are much to short anyway, even if the idea was a good idea! 73 and good DXing!

Pancake, the Wilson 5000 use a UHF TYPE MOUNT. Why not just clean the area and apply JB WELD TO GLUE MAGNET BACK IN PLACE.(IT WILL HOLD & BOND ANYTHING).Sold in auto parts stores, walmart, kmart, etc. about $5.00. It will last longer than the Wilson.
