Hello everyone. I have a question. Can you make an unamplified D104 out of an amplified one? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I have a friend that uses' a 2950 for a base but doesn't want to use the hand mic. He wants the D104 but it has so much mod that it squeals if he turns up the mic gain on the mic any. Its a shame Astatic decided to discontinue this mic it is also my favorite. Thanks again. Happy New Year to everyone. |

If you crack the D-104 open just so slightly , it will act as one with out an amp... 307 |

Greywolf Is your friend running talkback on the 2950, if so thats the problem. I've run the D-104, Night eagle, and silver eagle on the 2950 and Galaxy Saturn Turbo with no problems. You can't turn them up very much, but they don't need much. In fact most of the newer D-104's want turn completly off. I have had to wire a 47K ohm resistor in series with the white(audio) wire on the D-104 for a few radios. Scrapiron |

why not add a small resistoer to the audio line? like lets say a 33k ? it would make darn sure it wouldnt squeal. i did that with one i had along time ago. |

You might add a .001mfd cap across audio and shield, maybe two. |

Couldn't one just bypass the amp board? |

it could be done, but you`d have to change the element inside the head if its a lowimpedance radio. to a low impedance element. |

sure you can Brownings and Trams where known for them and in fact came with them in fact tram had 2 kinds a plain lollypopd104 stock and a double key lollypop d104 the double key is harder 2 find though i do have 1 of each i could give you the rundown on the code transfer and no you don't need to change the head element and if you find 1 with a lazyman keyer wich is even rarer then your in like flinn i have a few of them.
