what is the most power you can get out of the 2970 (I mean rms power not peak power) after the tx alignment? what would be the frequency coverage after freq. conversion? the rx and pll i don't really know what diference it will make after alignment. can you explain? thank you |

I just printed off the service manual for the old style 2970...all of the tx alignment procedures are easily followed but for one thing...to check the Driver Bias for 50-70mA, you need to connect your dc ammeter between TP9 and TP8..Where the heck are they???...lol, I've stared at the pcb layout until my eyes burn...can anyone tell me??...also, should it be adjusted closer to 50mA or closer to 70mA??.....I know I should Not tinker with this fine radio, but in the past several years(before I grew a brain about the Golden Screwdriver), I already have tried to peak it out and I have several things incorrect(weird readings, tx is intermittent, low modulation)...so I want to go by the book and set it back to factory specs, I don't have the money to send it back to ranger although I will if this doesn't clear things up Sean CEF867 CVC81
