really not much to be done on a little radio like this one. you can try lowering the value of R85 to 4.7K (stock is 10K), or you can buy a 10K two legged variable resistor and solder it in place of R85, thus giving you a variable modulation control. best thing to do is just give it a good tune up. if the radio has a mic gain, turn it all the way up. on ch. 19 or 20, key the mic and say "ahhh" in an even voice tone. while saying "ahh", tune these coils in this order, then go back and do it again, in the same order. make sure you have the right plastic tool and turn very slowly so you dont break the cores. for TX-T10, T11, T12, L3, and L6. dont try to tune these for max dead key or you will have downward modulation. if you want to give the receiver a quick tune up, tune these coils for max S-meter reading/ speaker noise. T1-T7, in that order, on ch.19 or 20. good luck, matt |
