Bridge_man, the U.S version is 110 vac supply, the UK. Version is 220vac supply.they do not have the dual primary power transformer to select the supply voltage.as for the second part of your question,4 amps @ 220 vac or 8 amps @ 110 vac both would have the same power consumption or 880 watt-hours.the advantage to running at hi voltage comes into play when supply wire size is an issue. thanks tech291! the reason i ask is because my klv350 wont key up.thought it may be a power problem cause when i key the radio the amp wont key and it dims the lights in the house like its not getting enough pwr.radio is a 2517,using a 1 watt DK.even with the amp on standby it restricts the wattage of the radio down to about 10 watts max!the transformer still thumps when i turn the pwr on so i dont think its the problem.it has new tubes that both evenly glow amber just as when i got it.i was talking skip on high when it sat down.it has happened once before but after a few min it started working again.its been a few days now and still doing the same thing.anybody got any ideas? |

Bridge_man, Rich brings up a good point. If possible put an ac volt meter on the same receptical the 350 is powered from to see what the voltage drop is.could be your house wireing isnt heavy enough. Also it sounds like the 350 has other issues.in stand-by you shouldnt lose any wattage from the radio(in off or stand-by,what goes in should come out).check all your jumpers and eliminate those as sources of problems.the lights flicker with modulation?it could be your feeding the amp into a bad coax or antenna also. yes,it is on the same circuit as a few other devices but i turn them off before using the 350 so that its the only thing drawing pwr on that circuit.i have its own line in the works.i've checked all the jumpers and tried diffrent ones but still no luck.i dont even put any mod into it,just keying the mic dimmes the lights on all the circuits in the house!the lights on the amp work and the fan is on,but when i key up the transformer thumps, light dims, fan slows down. amp on standby or off it still restricts the output of the radio to 10 watts max swing.if i leave the key down for more than a second or 2 the transformer starts to make a frying sound and smells a little.no output on wattmeter at all with amp on.no DK or mod swing.radio works fine by itself and with a 2 pill mobile on a pwr supply[my backup amp].im wanting to think its a switch inside the amp stuck, like a temp. or key up switch cause its done this before and came back to life. |

well i guess it'll have to get in line at the pondarosa.i was hoping it would be something that i could repair cause the only tube box tech is allways backed up a month or so.i do now have a dedicated pwr line and breaker for my amp. my 2x4 is in the works! |
