Does anyone run coax over 150 feet and if so is the caox calculator accurate? Hilljack |

Does heliax really count as coaxial cable Paul? |

I think so. I have Heliax and LMR400 running under ground between my shack and the comm shelter. The LMR is used for the shortwave longwire antenna and the scanner discone antenna. Heliax for everything else. Of course, I have a few installations in the field running 500 feet and more of coax. That is all Heliax or sometimes hardline. I would NEVER run more than 150 feet of flexible cable for ANY band. 150 feet or more is mandatory Heliax or better. Mostly because of attenuation and noise pick-up properties. |
