I've used both and like the Imax 2000 better

A99
Handles 2000 Watts P.E.P.
18 feet in length
9.9dbi
1/2 wave over 1/4 wave

IMAX 2000
24 feet in length
Outstanding gain
5/8 wavelength

I've also found that on either one at a low height the GPK helps with TVI

Copper Forum Member's,

From Paul / Tech833's Review on the IMAX 2000:

"(A 5/8 wave antenna is 0.625 of one wavelength). I was very surprised to find that the Imax 2000 is not a 5/8 wave as advertised. The Imax 2000 is actually a .64 wave! The .64 wave is one of the best kept secrets in CB and 10 meter antennas. Not since the Super Penetrator 500 Gold has there been a .64 wave antenna widely available. A .64 wave antenna is the highest gain single element design there is with 0.4 dB more gain on the horizon (free space) than a 5/8 wave element."

Imax 2000 would do better of the two you
mentioned.

I replaced my 1 yr old working antron99 with a imax-2000 about 6 months ago. The antron99 is in the imax box and still sitting out in the shed. Imax is better.

Tommy, Both are great antennas and both will perform well. Of the two I would go Imax! It is longer, thats an improvement in recieve! It has a higher wattage handling, more heavy duty!
Right out of the box it is tuned for 27.205! Right in the middle of the cb band! When I installed mine I did'nt even touch the tuning rings! SWR is perfect! SWR was even good above channel 40 and below channel 1. You can't lose!

true gain of a 5/8 wave is about 3 dbi or 1 dbd
