I have a chance on gettibg one, it uses a foot pedal to key, new tubes, I know it works. But recently it has started keying as soon as it is turned on. I know nothing about tube amps other than how to use them so does this sound easy to fix? Also would it be simple to make it key on transmit and not with the foot pedal? Also I know that "something is only wrth what ppl. will pay for it" So what would you pay for it. It's being offered at a very reasonable price which I know is a steal but...' BC |

i would say, check the current price of used/ good condition 3-500z tubes. your amp has two i think. if the price is not much more than the tubes, then you're getting a great deal. the amp needs what is called a carrier operated relay to key when the radio is keyed. ham radios have this built in, but for obvious reasons, CB's dont. i dont know too much about this stuff, but i think there are kits and products available from companies like MFJ. on yours, the first thing i would check is the cord going to the keyer, the pedal itself (i imagine it gets its fair share of abuse, and the contacts might be smooshed together) also check the jack on the back of the linear. good luck, i think those are great amps. matt |

The henry 2KW keys by way of a ground being applied to a relay. When its hooked to a ham radio such as my ft1000D it will supply the ground on transmit of the radio. Its called a tx ground.Thats what the foot pedal is suppling a ground.Unplug the pedal and see if it still keys.If that fixes the problem replace the foot pedal. If it still keys with the foot pedal removed then you need to check the tx relay in the amp for a short.BE WARNED-The heny carries a deadly voltage that normally will be drain off by bleeder resistors but even at that you can still get the soup knocked out of you if the caps hold on to even a small charge.TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED WITH VOLTAGE.It is not an amp you want to be inside if you dont know what youre doing. |

OK so the question is... What is the cheapest way that you know to ship something that large? UPS, USPS, etc. Thanks |

Wow... Big Strapper... It's now going to be... 2K2K2K2K2K2K2K2K... Fastest way.... A large cannon, just kidding. I used to have to ship large frame mixing consoles a lot. We would either use a carrier company or suprisingly FexEx! FedEx has many different divisions to accomodate almost anything. How close are you to Indy or other large mero? If you are in a Metro area a carrier is usually the best. It's paying for the drive from the metro to your door that hurts! Chad |

BC, UPS will be the cheapest, but it had better be packed like it was going to the moon! double boxed, tubes removed, in their own tightly packed box inside the bigger box. must use styrofoam in every nook and cranny. a few peanuts and some newspaper arent going to cut it. tubes being removed from chassis is most important. good luck, matt |

Man a 2k banging around by the UPS guys...no thanks! With all due respect, they aren't very gentle at some point in the chain of shipping. See if this person will also remove the power supply BC. Makes the whole box a little lighter for sure. You will LOVE the Henry if this person has taken care of it. I've had mine 6 years and still going strong. And...the best part is...I only paid $400 for it. Very very minor ding on a part you don't see is all that cosmetically was wrong. Best money ever spent! Good luck and 73--Kirk p.s. I would recommend a Heil footswitch (can't remember the model) but it keys ther amp first, then the rig. This all happens in one push of the pedal. 2 pigtails, one for amp and one for rig. |
