IF YOU TURN ANYTHING TO MAKE THE RECEIVE BETTER, YOU JUST BRING IN MORE NOISE WITH SIGNAL AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT HEAR ANY BETTER. IF YOU NEED INFO ON S9, PATZEROZERO IS THE ONE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO BECAUSE HE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THESE RADIOS. WHERE ARE YOU PAT????? HARVE UNIT199 |

Loco101, WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM! LOOK to the LEFT of the Copper Forum here and you will see: Tools Mic. Wiring Frequency Chart CB & Ham Lingo Modification List CLICK on Modification List Then Magnum and S-9 and you will find the Tune Up/Alignment information. Rather than mess with the radio I would recommend a investing in a Receive Pre-Amp. It could be your's or his location, antenna, station set-up or just this very, very bad sunspot cycle we are in that is allowing you to only get a 1-lb signal. Hope this help's, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Loco101, If the radio has already been tuned up by a pro then leave the covers on. The S meter has a sensitivity adjustment that loosens up the meter so you could make your regular signals go up 2 S-units but it is not actually improving your recieve. Besides, S-meters are really useless and you really can't take them seriously. I like them as just for eye candy. Your ears are your real recieve meter! I strongly recommend looking into some good high qaulity coax and upgrading your antenna setup. Other than that as Lon suggests get a good reciever amp. Hope you get it figured out! Good luck CEF491 |
