A few years back before I was off the radio for awhile I had ruined my super star 550. I had an emporer 5010 and had the power all the way up on and forget about it. Anyways, I took it to a tech that was a friend of mine and he said the transisters were bad. He told me that I could just replace them and be good to go. He gave me the old ones a plastic bag. He said there were higher wattage ones that I could use in place, but I didn't care about that. I don't know where he is now, but I finally got some new ones. I put them in yesterday. I have an electrical short I'm guessing. Soon as I cannect power with the amp on or off the protection in my power supply kicks on. I don't know if you can put them in wrong or what. I'm used to base, collecter, and emitter. Anyways, I don't know much about rf amps and need help. Do you think I just put them in wrong? Advice is appreciated. |

sounds like a diode to me,check the diode by the hot and ground inside the amp. but you should take the diode out of the board before testing it. it happened to me before and i went to radio shack and got another put it in and bamm it worked again, make sure you put the diode back in the right direction.also with the diode out hook it up and see if it works the diode is just a circut protector |
