When a new final is installed in a radio, does it take time for the final to come up to operating wattage? Break in time? Reason I'm asking is because I just put a new erf-2030 and companion part in my Cobra 29 Classic and performance has improved each day since it was installed on Friday 8/11/06. Just Curious. Please remember that I'm using a Dosy - so it's probably ballpark, but not exact. It started out at 1.75 DK and approximately 18 watts. But over the last few days I've seen the forward swing wattage increase to nearly 30 watts. I was just curious if this was normal? Steelworker2001 CEF-809 |

SWR's haven't changed, have they '2001? you're using the same antenna or dummy load each time? (increased SWR's can show a false increase in output) |

No Pat - same antenna. No dummy load - just a Wilson 1000 Mag Mount and a Dosy PM-1000 meter. Thanks for the replys. Steelworker2001 CEF-809 |

bc, remember that the mod you did to your 148gtl was designed for the new chinese style with the mic connector on the front. the transmit sections of the two radios are just a bit different, which may explain the low output. i have been searching for someone who has successfully modified an old style 148 with the ERF2030 for a long time, and i still cant find a difinitive answer. whatever you find out, please post it! i wanna do mine too! matt |

Well, on mine, with the original 1969 final, I could key 2 watts and peak 18 watts, or key 5 watts and peak 22 watts. This is on a Bird 43P. |
