Anyone remember the bow tie ten meter antenna, shaped like a bow tie director/reflector, light weight used back in the 60's. Anyone build them anymore?, would be great for 11 meters doctor |

Didn't Radio Shack carry a small CB beam that looked like a bow tie? I wish I still had all of my catalogs from the 70s and 80s around so I could look stuff like that up. |

The bow tie beam is still being made by a company called Butternut. The HF5B is a multi-band 10, 12, 15, 17, and 20 meter antenna. The 270-30 is a 10 and 11 meter version of the same antenna. Both are very small in size (12 ft wingspan, 6 foot boom for 5 bander, 10 ft wingspan, 4 foot boom for 10/11m version). It would easily pass for a TV antenna if you had to be stealth about your radio hobby. |
