Anyone looking to go 2 meter SSB DO NOT BUY a hygain VB214fm ! They say it is cut for 144 and even give instructions to "CUT" it but it comes from the factory for 147 and has a VSWR of over 2:1 at 144.200. Now for FM it will work fine ..... |

I'm wondering about any store bought beams. I puchased a 3 element yagi from another location and it was supposedly 2 meter only. After putting an SWR meter on it the thing also works for 440 with an SWR of no more than 1.3 |

Rid0617, That maybe because 440 or 70cm is close enough to x3 m that it works. For example a 1/4 wave at 2m would be 3/4 at 440. This fact is used in several dual band antenna. As an aside a 1/4w for 6m will also work as a 3/4 wave at 2m. |
