Hi guys. I have mounted a Francis fiberglass antenna on the bumper of my truck, chevy ext. cab, shortbed. Can I hook up the coax from antenna to radio to check SWR'S before I run the coax under the truck through the floor and under carpet? Or do I need to totally install the coax first? Thanks.

just make sure you're in a clear spot away from poles, wires, fences, trees, house, etc, & run the wire through the open window & close the doors. (parking lots work great . then check away. as long as your cable & ends are good, everything should stay the same after you reroute it....just don't try coiling up an extra 50'

I like to adjust the VSWR once the install is complete because then you'll only do it once. If you play with it before complete, you'll want to check it again afterward.

Ideally the installation shouldn't make a difference, but in reality if the shield of the coax is used by the antenna for the counterpoise.
