I just purchased a new Connex 4800 DXL-E W/Echo from Copper. How do you accomplish the freq mod on the new model with echo. Moving the jumpers as on the previous model 4800's causes the freq counter to go crazy. Has anybody accomplised this mod with succss and how. I've seen a few post on this topic with the same problem

Move the jumper under the freq. counter module to the back right pins (radio upsidedown & face tward you)

move the front jumper (behind the mode knob)

Find vr3 (blue pot with white knob) behind vr3 you will see a 3 wire plug (purple, green, yellow) remove it from the 2 pins holding it to the board and plug it in the socket behind the jumper you moved at the front of the radio.

Thank you for the reply.I took it to a local C.B shop that I deal with. He had did one a while ago and was having trouble remembering exactly what he did to get it to work. That's why I posted here. After a while it came back to him. You have to move the jumper as you stated. But he said moving the 3 wire plug is for a different radio.
For the new 4800 DXL w/ Echo you have to move the jumpers (as you said) then you have to momentaraly short 2 pins together on the board to reset/ reboot the radio. After he did that the radio reset/rebooted and the mod took. The radio and freq counter now work normal. Once again thank you for taking the time to reply

Glad you got it working, but I have the exact same radio and did the mod as stated above and it works perfectly.
I don't see what shorting the 2 pins would do I am pretty sure this radio is not CPU controled. Did he say what radio you were supposed to move the plug in?

He said the president grant c.b. But also that the mod you mention could be used on the connex 4800 depending on what type of board was used in the radio. Apparently depending on what model 4800 you have or when it was made depicks what board was used. He's worked on several connex 4800 DXL's and they 've had different boards.
