You would need a well regulated, clean power supply rated at 13.8 volts nominal....with a continuous current rating equal to, or more, than the maximum current draw of the "s6" and any other devices/accessories that would be powered at the same time. |

With the S6 (not the 80 watt model) and no accessories a 10 amp power supply would work fine, but I wouldn't go any smaller than that. |

get a power supply that will do 20 amps continuous and you will be very safe and happy. you see, RL; he doesnt know what the amp draw of the S6 is, thats why he is asking. matt |

If he doesn't know what it ("s6") draws, nor state its rated transmit power...how is anyone to know? Just as if he was wanting a power supply to power light bulbs...without the bulb specs, you can only supply information on what is stated. Instead he just gets some suggestions to just get a power supply much larger than probably needed. |

It's better to plan for the worst and hope for the best. And you should never over-look or forget to think about the future. You are saying you only plan to run the S6...uh huh..umkay. You must be to this hobby...cause I think everyone here can say that's just how it starts out...Little radio today..big radio tomorrow. Then next week it's a 2 pill box and by the end of next month...2 driving 6 is on the way. Buy the largest you can afford. It is always better to have more than you need. You will be like most others and end up needing it one day. You can always run a small amp with it without any major issues. Or alteast that is what I'd do. Chop |
