Right here : http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/discus4/board-auth.cgi?lm=1134832861&file=/7750/81937.html Lon's update...does this adjustment for the mic amp gain apply to the older S-9's? And what about the audio level, VR14 I believe is what he said, does that apply to the older ones too? |

Therealporkchop, From the UPDATE I posted from Sam Lewis it states it was for the NEWER Magnum S-6 Radio's: MAGNUM S-6 Owners Manual Addendum December 2005 The older S-9 radios did not have the ERF-2030 MOSFET RF Power Transistor's. Hope this help's, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Mine doesn't have the new MOSFET's, not yet anyway. Is there anywhere that has alignment instructions and board layout for this radio? The usual place isn't showing anything, and the Galaxy 88 is similiar, but not the same. Which brings me to a question. Mine is slightly out of alignment, not real bad, but off a little. When you align the transmitter, on the freq counter would you want the output, let's use channel 1 for example, 26.965. Would you want it to be 26.9650 or 26.96555 ? I don't mean the built in one either either, I'm talking about an external. I went with 5 for the last digits. Here is what controls what, atleast in the model I have... VR14 - AM Modulation VR16 - Low Power VR13 - High Power VR12 - ALC VR1 - RX Meter (AM/FM) VR2 - RX Meter - SSB VR3 - SSB Squelch VR4 - AM/FM Squelch VR4a - RF Gain Control VR5 - FM Deviation VR7 - Carrier Balance VR8 - S-Meter TX VR10 - Final Bias VR11 - Driver Bias VR20 - Final Bias ECHO BOARD ADJUSTMENTS VR1 - Gain (TX Audio) VR2 - Intensity (Echo DUration) SWR BOARD ADJUSTMENTS VR1 - Alert Threshold FREQUENCY COUNTER / MCU BOARD C105 - Counter Adjustment COILS TX - L18,L40,L42,L43,L44 RX - (ALL MODES) L6,L7,L8,L10,L12 RX SSB - L13,L14 RX AM - L3,L4 RX FM - L5 NB - L1,L2 CARRIER OSC - AM=L26, USB - L27 LSB - L28 FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENT AM - L19, USB - L27, LSB - L21 MIXER GAIN - L22 Maybe some of this is new and not a reposted deal. |

Therealporkchop. use 0 and not 5 your counter should read 26.9650. I did a complete alignment to my S9 and used the Gallaxy 88 instructions, they were accurate. just make sure you turn the radio and external frequency counter on for at least 2 hours before you begin. This is let things stabilize. Do pll alignment first then receiver then transmit. and remember to take out mirror board before alignment. |

Try the Modification List located to the left of the forum here. I posted all of the information last year that I received from Sam Lewis on the S-9 in the Modification List for the Copper Forum Member's. It will show a few alignment location's that are missing from the above information. Hope this help's, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Where's the PLL in this radio? I don't see it in the normal place you usually look. I aligned mine to 5 and not 0, so I guess maybe I better go back and re-do it. I will have to say that it receives better and seems to have cut some of my A/C blower noise out, not a lot, but a little bit. I'll check it out Lon, thanks. |
