Hi. I know Radio Shack sells the gray masts. I hardly ever buy anything from them, but seeing that it is a mast, with no electronic parts, I was thinking of simply just buying it from them. Any other places sell masts? Also, on an unrelated note (well kidna). What is better for outside. Galvanized steel, or stainless steel? Thanks. |

Our Lowes carries a lower grade mast then what radio shack sells. Try a place that sells fencing. |

interesting! i thought that since they were both grey, and similar in price, that the radio shack and the lowes masts were the same, but i also thought that the masts ive been getting from lowes seem a bit flimsy. i will check radio shack as im in the market for a 10 footer right now. stainless steel is fine for outside, but may i ask where you got enough stainless from? that stuff is expensive! galvanized conduit with the screw in couplers would be good for your setup. good luck, matt |

Try a fence co. Ask for "TOP RAIL". It works very well. |

moderator1516: i have never tried it, but it looks like the top rail of a chain link fence would do the job as two or more sections could be joined together moderator 1516 |

Go to home depot or lowes and look in the section of electrical conduits. all different sizes of galv. pipes that you could slip together and make your own push up pole of sorts. |

Not sure what gauge, but is real heavy gauge. The mast from the ground to my rotor is 17 feet 8 inches of inch and a half O.D. galvanized pipe, at one time was part of a chain link fence. To be honest, The best 10 foot sections of antenna mast I've ever owned was made by South River and was real heavy gauge steel. Not the cheap thin wall stuff I've seen as of late in stores. It's been about 20-25 years now, but as I remember a South River 10 foot mast was around $18.00-$20.00. I've never used over two 10 foot sections put together. |
