My cobra 148 F seems to have a problem with a digit on the FREQUENCY COUNTER.The 3rd digit seems to be getting very dim on one part of it.Its not the whole number just part of it like part of the 6 or 8 its in the same spot.Im guessing the digit is just going to burn out one day.Do you think its the digit itself or are there lights back there that burn out?Is there an yplace i can buy a new FREQUENCY COUNTER for this radio?or does anyone have one for a broke radio? |

There are not many Cobra/Uniden sideband radios out there that people will let stay broken down. They get them fixed and they just keep working for years on end. They are just to good to parts out. I've had in my time a Cobra 148F-GTL, with never a moments problem. Sorry now I ever sold it. But someone wanted to give me more money than I had invested in it, the guy really liked the frequency counter, even though it only has 5 digits. Also I didn't make a big amount of money on the 148F, been quite some time now, but as I remember I only gained about $50.00, on my original investment on the radio. |

yes they are good radios I bought it used off a radio buddy of mine for $100 and I love it.Why part of the digit is going dim im not sure. Its a good talking radio I keep it in my car.Other than that part of the digit going dim it works great.maybe I can find one that someone has thats broke and take the FREQUENCY COUNTER out and put it in mine.If i can find one. I was told by cobra they made the 148 F only for one year in 1997. |

A Uniden made Cobra prior to Cobra's bad idea to break away from Uniden, is getting to be a hard find. The 148F-GTL being the hardest find, just not all that many 148Fs out there. Even still the 148Fs that are out there are in top operating condition. There are more first model 148GTL, Uniden Grant XL/LT, and Cobra 2000GTLs than any thing else on the used market. But they are not for sale very long, the people in the know scarf them up quickly. |
