Had a Sirio (Sigma 4) up in 1989. Cheaply built and does not take high winds or bad weather very well. Gave it to a friend who wanted to fix it back up. The bottom hoop section rolled off the back of his truck on to the highway. Doesn't take that very well either.

Any antenna with such a long length (31ft) is gonna break sooner or later. A good 5/8 wave or .64 wave will do just as good and even better with Dx conditions.

Actually- NO! Antennas on 27 mhz start to lose gain after 23-24ft in length. Your better off with a 5/8 wave/.64 wave.

than why would a company build an antenna that is a height of 31ft. if it becomes less efficient after 23 -24ft? |

$$$$$$$$$$$$ Everyone thinks the bigger the better! But, it's not true in this case. Same reason why antenna companies dream-up high gain figures. To sell antennas! |

Its not a bad antenna. Its not quite as good as a sigma4.It is weaker made where the coax connector goes. Its easy to bend up top but look at the imax2000 it dosent stay exactly straight either. To me the hoop is held better than a sigma4.It is just as broadbanded as the sigma4.If you use pipebands and silicone to keep it togeather it will work even bent. |

I recently installed Vector 4000 install was very easy other then a one hole was not drilled and a missing screw. On the other hand once it was put together I had 1:1 match first try so I was happy about that considering it was 104F outside, can not complain about performance it is fantastic however would I buy this antenna again the answer has to be NO: it is far to weak I use lines to keep it in the air so the wind does not rip it to peices. I intend to replace it asap as I live in mobile home park and can not risk having it crash into my neibors house. Next Stop Maco |
