Hi. I installed one of the clip on ferrite chokes right at the end of the coax right before the antenna (It's inside a van). Anyway, when I talk, I can actually kinda hear my voice through the ferrite choke. Is this good? I am thinking it may be good because it is essentially stopping the signal from going down the outside of the coax back into the radio or amp. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

Yep. You have a problem. If you have that much RF on the outside that the ferrite choke sings. Try moving the choke, or better yet add a second one close to the radio or amp as possible. Are the plugs correctly done on the coax? are you using a good quality coax? Is the antenna base properly grounded and the antenna properly tuned?? is the radio correctly grounded at the chassis? If you did the install yourself it may pay to have a more experienced person give it a once over. |

Yes, the plugs are done correctly, good coax (mini 8, not the best, but), great ground, and antenna is perfectly tuned. radio grounded. Only happens with the 667 at full power. 6 foot coax from radio to amp. 18 foot from amp to antenna. |

WoW James that is weird! Where exactly do you have your antenna mounted? On the roof is choice. If you have it on the bumper BAD! You want all of your antenna above the vehicle away from the sides. Are you using a magnet mount? Also is your coax rolled up in a ball or spread out long? Probably a good idea to go over every thing top to bottom with a fine tooth comb. Like tech237 stated you have a lot of RF! Bigtime RF! Oh did you solder on your pl259's yourself or are they factory? Wish I was there to give you a hand cause I know if it was me I think the van would be in the bottom of a lake about right now! |

No magnet mount. It is on the roof. dead center with a "through" mount with an so-239. Coax is NOT rolled up anywhere. Ground straps from amp and radio to a nice sanded point on the van with braid (1/2"). i just installed 9913 coax (made from the factory). 9 feet from radio to amp. 18 feet from amp to antenna. let's see. |

Pat, Comeback on that! My opinion, I think a magnet mount can be the cause or part of the cause of problems sometimes.AS far as a ground goes. I much prefer bolted on. Although with such a ginormous magnet like yours........ |
