I have an RCI 2950DX with the EPT695011Z board. There is a little jumper gizmo in the hardware pack. Where do I put it and what do I do then? I have heard many different opinions on how to get 11 meters in these radios. Some say there is a wire hanging loose behind the front panel (I see no loose wire), others say to put the jumper on the 4 pin block on the circuit board behind the front panel and thats it, others say putting the jumper on won't work and you have to purchase an expander kit.
What is the REAL scoop? Can this radio be made to work on 11 meters or not?
If so, how?
If a kit is needed, where to get one?
What about power increases for this radio?
What about the super swing mod for the earlier radios, how to do it in this one? Is it really a worthwhile mod?
How can I get this radio to scan with the squelch off? While mobile, I sometimes want to scan for weak signals, some of these may well be down in the noise. The only way to scan for these weak signals is to hold the buttons on the mic, not real great for driving. If the mic buttons will make it scan, there should be a way to make it do it itself.
The button beeper sounds raspy, not pure, anyone else have this problem? Any way to cure it?
Very little room in the vehicle I want to mount it in, has anyone tried to detach the front panel and extend the connections to the main board to remote mount the front panel?
The front panel lights dim when I transmit, any cure for this? Maybe a larger power cord? Perhaps a more direct power feed to the front panel lights from the power supply?
How about getting the transmit to track with the clarifier?

ok ok ok first of all where did you buy the radio second did you look for the little 3 wire connector near the front of the radio by removing the cover on the SPEAKER SIDE???? is that little jumper also including a heat shrink tube? if the connector is there and you have the module plug module into the 3 wire connector and BAM 11 meter plus more!!!! in fact 24-32 Mhz
on the same side of the board is the following
VR14 SSB POWER
VR17 AM MODULATION
VR15 AM/FM POWER |

Just my two cents worth, If you want to scan for weak signals, buy a noise chopper. I got one of these gizmos and they work wonders for the over senitive 2950DX's recive. Also I have the mod for opening the clarifier, it's a JPG file so if you want it email me at skullman858@yahoo.com and I'll send it to ya. |

my 2950 dx also dims on transmit, and i have plenty of juice. i dont think this is a problem.
i would like info on the swing mod. this radio
is totally diff. from my mirage 2950.
anybody? |

Alamo, I think they all do that regardless of juice. Mine is hooked a 13.5 volt 14 amp power supply and still dims a little when I key up. I even run it with the variable power all the way down to 1.5 watts. I think it's just something in RCI's design. Do what I do turn the display completly off so there are no lights. Looks like a $2.00 calculator but keeps the dimming from bugging me. |

I have a ri2950, older model(orange lights). I might add I have owned no less than 10 2950's over the years and have never experienced this problem. when I turn off the radio and the frequency is shown as---27.325.0 Turn the radio back on and the frequency wikll be 27.324.0. It will do the same thing if I have it on the CB Channel selector 32, turn off and back on and it will be on 31. Does any one have a the answer??? Thanks--73's. Bob |

CHANGE THE BATTERY! had this happen to me i put a new 3 volt battery in behind the display inside unit. looks like a quarter . change it out put a new one in and turn unit on the off for 5 minutes then your set. no more losing channels or such when power is removed. never have your ranger hooked to always come on with the cars ignition. in other words dont leave the radio on and have the car ignition turn it on and off itll kill the internal battery quick!! later |

Im running mine on with 16volts and 65amp power supply, mine still dims, juice is not whats going on for sure |
