does any one know what the btl on& off switch and the grid tune knob on the back side of this amp is for? i have the oreginal paper work but it doesn't have any thing about them in it. this amp has been pluged in one other time before and i don't want to damage it by not tuneing it correctly. thanks nickle |

I believe the btl was a receive preamp, and the grid tune was an input tuner to show the radio a low swr.If you put an swr meter between the radio and the maverick and the swr is high on the radio you can adjust the grid tune to lower the swr. |

Yes the btl is a preamp. The grid tune which is not properly named is to match the output of your radio to the input of the tubes. As posted above it is sort of swr tuner but more than that it isolates your radios output from the driver tubes input. It goes to the driver cathrode pin 3 of your driver tubes if I remember right.Tune for max deadkey. |
