put a SMALL fuse in, if it blows, go to the next size bigger, til it's the 1st one that doesn't blow, maybe 5 amps? |

My Grant XL has a 5 amp inline fuse and has never blown, I operate mostly sideband and the transmit output is set at 15 watts, can't say as I would chance using anything larger than a 5 amp. Carl CEF-357 |

Yep! 5 amps outta do the trick! Have you tried using the original fuse?It might still work. I use a 3 amp for the Cobra 148 and it worked. The cobra had also been peaked. When I swapped it with my Connex the fuse blew and had to go to 10 amps. So now the 148 is back in with a 10 amp fuse. I should go back to smaller but I like to live on the wild side. Danger is my middle name! 73 |

Kenny, A 10 amp fuse on the 148 GTL is more than living on the wild side. The 148s and Grants come new with a 5 amp fuse. I feel that a 3 amp is a little lite for the power draw on sideband. Carl CEF-357/CVC-9 |

Yankee, I know I know I know. I should be ashamed of myself. I have been procrastinating all my life! I need to get off my butt and replace it soon.73 |

I think I should have posted that my Grant XL on AM dead keys 3 and a half watts and swings 9 watts, the 15 watts I posted is sideband power output. Hope I didn't confuse anyone. Carl CEF-357/CVC-9 |
