--I was thinking about getting a higher wattage amp, and was wondering what people think of the competition amps? I have heard that some brands of competition type amps are really built for their continuous dead-key, and not really for clarity. Is this true? I will not be doing any "competition", I just want to have good audio. --Right now, I have a Texas Star 350HDV and I love that little amp. I should just stick with what has treated me right (Texas Star amps) and get another Texas Star, but I was just curious about other brands. Thanks for your help. |

unfortunately, mayor, the prospects for DX from LI NY to OK are pretty slim right now, so i can't 'demonstrate' for you . but at least 70 CEF members have heard my class 'C' davemade amp on DX, both AM & SSB. you can check under CEF contacts. nobody has EVER mentioned a quality issue with the sound of my signal. davemade & xforce will bias for SSB on request, though xforce also has the magnaforce line-already set for SSB. i have personnally used every single texas star amp ever made over the years(except the 2 new ones). NEVER had ANY trouble with ANY of 'em! for quality & performance, i will ALWAYS recommend a texas star. i have a 23+ year old dx350 that has never missed a beat, driven my dx1600, & taken unspeakable abuse-from rain, snow, sand, heat, overdriven, etc & it just keeps on tickin'. |
