I mounted a 48" Firestick Topload Mobile antenna on our SUV and the spare tire is touching it about 6 inches up. Nothing metal touching it, just the sidewall of tire. Is this gonna hurt me? |

No, but it will wear away some of the antenna insulation after a while. Then, water will get in and it will be all over. |

One trick the 102 inch SS whip guys do is take a tennis ball and punch 2 holes in it. Put the whip through the ball and position it wherever the whip wants to touch something. Maybe you can get this trick to work for you. |

So does the tennis or rubber ball trick affect SWR, transmit or receive? I found a new area to mount a 102 whip. |

Crackshot, The Tennis Ball or ANY RUBBER placed around the antenna WILL NOT have any effect the SWR or anything in the radio including Transmit or Receive. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |
