I am new to this hobby. Expect Santa to bring me a Galaxy DX-2547 Base for x-mas. I asked for the Big Stick antenna too. I plan to run coax from inside the house to the antenna which will be mounted on the peak of my house which is about 25'. Do I need a ground wire for this antenna? |

Timetraveler, you should not need a ground to operate the rig. You should proved a good ground path to earth in case of lightning however. Good luck Marconi |

never hurts to run a ground wire from the ground bracket of antenna to a copper rod in the ground. or you can always grab a gound at the lightning rod ground wire on your roof. hey good luck and enjoy the hobby. |

Thanks Marconi & Honkytonkman593 for the information on grounding the Army Big Stick Antenna by Shakespear. I have another question related to the antenna: Do I need to worry about tuning the Army Big Stick? If so any info on how to do it would be helpful. Thanks, The Timetraveler |

Shouldn't need to tune the ABS 1600 at all. Marconi |
